Stories4Posterity was created to pass your memories to the generations that follow.
All of us have had incredible lives. Our life narratives reflect triumph and tragedy. Each of us has experienced unforgettable moments.
But we probably do not know of the unforgettable moments experienced by our ancestors. One of our forefathers watched General Lee’s surrender at Appomattox. Another’s saw Babe Ruth’s 714th and final homerun, a towering shot at age 40 that was the first ball to clear Forbes Field’s right field roof. (It was Ruth’s third homer of the day; he retired a week or two later.) Another may have been admitted to the university of her dreams but was forced by parents to stay home and care for her younger siblings. Another’s ancestor may have spent 30 years at sea, during which, he experienced wars, storms, discoveries, sadness and thrills.
We cannot write the tales of our ancestors but can learn the parts of you to keep alive. A member of our team of talented writers sits with you—twice and, depending on the complexity, perhaps several times more. The person who listens to your story is the person who will be its author. We learn about you, and we learn of the events that you wish to safekeep.
We outline the story and return to visit with you again. This time, we engage, asking questions to stretch your memory, with the hope that perhaps you may reveal ancillary details that add color to the setting or the story.
We write the story and deliver it to you electronically and in a bound copy. It is yours.
Although most consider the paper a family heritage, some clients ask us whether the story may be published. Our writers are connected with agents and publishers and we can advise you on your best approach. Possibility, the story of your goaltending in the 1950 NCAA Hockey Final becomes a full-length motion picture!
Stories4Posterity is not included in the monthly fee. Our fee for this service depends on the complexity and length of your story. Naturally, writing a full book costs more than a five-page essay. But in all cases, our first meeting is complimentary. You are not committed to pay us until you meet your author and give us the green light to proceed.
