The Problem
Many of us enjoyed substantial and important careers. We started and ran companies. We were partners at significant service firms. We were medical professionals, pilots, athletes, scholars and entrepreneurs. Now, as we have retired (or have been retired) from our primary careers, we sometimes feel as though the world is passing us by and that we have lost an important part of ourselves, a perception perhaps of being discarded. We no longer have the business card that shows ‘who we are’ in the working world. We may be older but still deserve and want to be respected and utilized. We know that we could serve as a Walmart greeter but we think our lifetime of skills can be put to better use. We are unsure where to turn. We may be intimidated by the tech revolution and we may harbor a sinking sense that the younger people now seemingly running the business world are disinterested in our potential contributions.
the solution
We offer customized career placement consulting services for older adults. At Venage, we have ourselves pivoted career-wise on multiple occasions since turning the age of 60. We have returned to university, studied new subjects, lived in different cities, taken new jobs and launched businesses. We have seen the opportunities available to talented and motivated people of all ages and we are able to introduce some to you.
Breadth of our Services
Whether you want to establish or join a for-profit or non-profit organization or start your own enterprise, we can help you find the opening, people, and resources. We work in two areas. First, we visit businesses of all types to learn about opportunities for experienced workers. It may be a school district looking for volunteers to teach art or music in the face of budget cuts. It may be a young company that cannot afford a full-time CFO or CMO and would appreciate having an accomplished financial or marketing professional to work part-time. It may be a global service firm looking for additional hands on a short-term large-scale project. Our data base of contacts gives us insights to the possibilities.
Second, we meet with you, our client. We are your business consultants, helping you plan the next steps in your professional lives. We learn who you are, what you are most qualified to do, and what you would most like to do. This is done through a questionnaire and a discussion. We work together on creating and implementing your personal business plan.
If you want to establish a start-up company, we strategize with you. If you want to consult at a venture capital firm, we oversee the updating of your resume and help you chart the firms to approach. If you want to serve on the board of directors of a non-profit entity, we research the non-profits in your area of interest and use our contacts to help you gain access.
All of this is customized to you. It is as if we are your life coach, listening to your professional dreams, making suggestions on how to accomplish them, and working together to put you in front of the right people.
